Issues We Face

Explore a Greater Change

Academic Decline

The impact of the pandemic on K-12 learning is inarguably significant. All schools in SAU16 are well below state proficiency levels for math and reading. (Insert link). Shockingly, these data predate the pandemic.

In our community, the decisions of our administration and school boards to keep our larger campuses closed to in person learning, longer than most schools in NH and across the country, has impacted all of our students and those who are disadvantaged the hardest. The achievement gap has widened between high and low income families more than ever before, and it will take years to truly understand the impact on the well being of our children.

Our leaders have left our teachers to deal with "unfinished learning" at a time when they need resources the most. The teachers I have spoken to need help to identify key blocks of learning that have been missed, strategies to increase student engagement and support to deal with burnout from a profession they love but have been forced to operate without a road map.

It is unconscionable to me that our school board did not reach a contract agreement with our teachers last year, forcing them to support their families during high levels of inflation and no cost of living increase.

As a Cooperative School Board member, I will make sure our teachers have what they need to focus on our students needs. I will stand up for our kids, by standing up for our teachers!

Responsible Spending

Our administration and school board are spending in places they shouldn't while neglecting areas of importance.

The current administration continues to add more administrative roles, proposed cutting teachers and the majority of the school board supports this philosophy.

We need school board members who will push back on the administration's desire to grow own offices at the expense of our students and teachers. With over 20 years of business experience, I will ensure that every tax dollar is invested in ways that will provide the most impact for educating our students. I will work tirelessly to maintain balance between the wants and needs of our administration, and will keep pushing until the correct balance is reached.
